Aggies turn back Lobos in baseball

EL PASO — New Mexico fought back from a seven-run deficit to bring the go-ahead run to the plate in the eighth inning before falling to New Mexico State 9-6 on Tuesday at Southwest University Park.

The loss was the fourth straight for the Lobos (6-5) after a 6-1 start that propelled them to a No. 24 national ranking. The remodeled Aggies under second-year coach Brian Green improved to 8-6.

Two Lobo errors led to three unearned runs for New Mexico State (8-6) in the first inning, and UNM was fighting an uphill battle from that point on.
