The Devils' path to the postseason couldn't be clearer entering Thursday.
Win and they're in.
The Devils' magic number sits at two points entering Thursday's play, and it can be reduced by any points they gain or any points the Florida Panthers fail to gain in their losses.
So the Devils could reduce that number to zero with any sort of win on Thursday, when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7 p.m. at Prudential Center in Newark.
They could also clinch a postseason spot on Thursday if the Panthers lose in regulation to the Boston Bruins, or if both the Panthers and Devils both lose in overtime or a shootout.
