During the second period, Devils' winger Jordin Tootoo shoved Islanders' defenseman Johnny Boychuk into the end boards. Boychuk angrily left the ice, smashing his stick on the way to the dressing room. Tootoo received a 5:00 major for cross-chekcing and a game misconduct penalty. Boychuk admitted later he was worried about his right shoulder, but he returned to play the final period and said he was okay. Tootoo and Boychuk spoke after the game.
