When Jesper Bratt played the Detroit Red Wings as a rookie, the Devils forward had a request for Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg.
With the help of a Devils equipment manager, Bratt asked for a stick from Zetterberg, who Bratt watched and idolized while growing up in Sweden.
Bratt asked on a whim, knowing that 2017-18 could end up being Zetterberg's final NHL season. He got the stick, and Bratt also turned out to be right.
Zetterberg officially announced his retirement from the NHL on Friday due to a degenerative back condition.
