Team USA set a record for stinginess and cashed in with another win on Friday.
Coach John Hynes’ group set a new U.S. tournament mark for fewest shots allowed in a game, limiting Hungary to eight in a 5-1 victory at the IIHF World Championship.
"It was an important three points for us to get today against a very well-coached team," Hynes told the IIHF website. "We'll take tomorrow off after playing back-to-back games and get ready for our game against Germany on Sunday."
Starting netminder Keith Kinkaid needed just seven saves to pick up his first win of the tournament.
