By now, Ryane Clowe hoped to be back on the ice getting ready for the new season.
Instead, the power forward is calling it a career. Doctors have not medically cleared Clowe to return, ending his 10-year run in the NHL.
“I tried to work my way back,” Clowe said on a conference call with the media on Friday. “ It just didn’t work out and I wasn’t able to play again. It’s just not possible and it won’t be possible moving forward.”
Devils general manager Ray Shero made the announcement.
“For me, getting to know Ryane over the last couple of months in particular, he’s a proud player, he’s a proud person,” Shero said.
