Ty Smith is making quite the impression to start his Devils career.
On his second day at Devils development camp, the 2018 first-round pick helped Team Elias win the annual 3-on-3 tournament, with his group beating Team Stevens, 8-2, in the final.
Along with Smith, Team Elias featured defensemen Jeremy Groleau and Colby Sissons, forwards Brett Seney, Fabian Zetterlund, Aarne Talvitie and Max Veronneau, plus goalie Akira Schmid.
Despite playing with emergency goalie Gary Biggs, who replace an ill Cam Johnson in net, Team Stevens managed to win two of its three round-robin games to get to the final, led by 2016 first-round pick Michael McLeod and third-round pick Joey Anderson.
