The New Jersey Devils have activated LW Tuomo Ruutu off injured reserve, according to a tweet from the Devils' Twitter account. To free up a spot on the roster for him, RW Paul Thompson has been sent back down to Albany.
Ruutu has missed a large part of this season, starting back in October when he fractured his right foot blocking a shot from Brent Burns of San Jose and missed 27 games. He has 9 shots and 4 PIM in his 9 games with the Devils this season.
Paul Thompson put up 3 shots on goal and 2 PIM in three games with the Devils, his first professional games of his NHL career.
