General Manager Ray Shero did well for the New Jersey Devils this trade deadline, emerging with six picks in the first three rounds of this year’s draft and 10 in total. Consequently, the Devils shipped out many of their pending unrestricted free agents like Brian Boyle, Keith Kinkaid, Marcus Johansson and Ben Lovejoy, all of whom were lineup regulars this season.
Their departures left a number of spots open in their lineup that are in addition to the vacancies made by the rash of recent mounting injuries.
