The Flyers unveiled their new mascot 'Gritty' and social media isn't having it

The Philadelphia Flyers take pride in their history and toughness.

Players like Bobby Clarke, Dave "The Hammer" Schultz, Bob Kelly and Andre "Moose" Dupont are just a few players that are the faces of this pride franchise.

You can add one more face to that list, "Gritty."

What is "Gritty" you ask? He is a seven-foot, orange, fuzzy creature and was
officially introduced Monday as the team's new mascot during an event at the Please Touch Museum in Fairmount Park.

According to the tongue-and-cheek news release, "Gritty" was “found” by the team, uncovered during large-scale construction and renovations currently taking place at the Wells Fargo Center.
