Mike Francesa announced Tuesday he is leaving WFAN on Dec. 15 as scheduled, dashing the glimmer of hope for a return that emerged in the wake of morning show host/Francesa nemesis Craig Carton's recent arrest on federal conspiracy and fraud charges and subsequent resignation from the station.
Francesa left the door open to stay in recent days after Carton was busted for running an alleged multi-million dollar fake ticket scheme, saying he would never abandon WFAN in a time of need.
But Francesa has now apparently decided the station doesn't need him to stay, and his imminent departure when his contract expires is "official" following a meeting with WFAN brass.
