Binghamton Devils’ Head Coach Mark Dennehy preached before the game about getting off to a strong start, something that has been recently lacking. The players responded and did exactly that in jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first half of the opening period. But it was short-lived as the Syracuse Crunch tied it with two quick goals that eventually carried them to a 6-3 victory on Wednesday in Binghamton.
It was the sixth straight win for the Crunch (18-8-2-0) over the Devils this season as they have Binghamton’s number.
After goals from defenseman John Ramage (5) and Blake Pietila (10), Syracuse scored their first 21 seconds later by Cal Foote (3) and Carter Verhaeghe (11) tied it less than four minutes later with the lift of the puck over Devils’ starter Cam Johnson to end the first period.
