Every once in a while, we’re pulled back from the abyss, reminded, in spite of it all, that there is still some good.
Tuesday, Devils center Adam Henrique returned from an injury and, with linemates Mike Cammalleri and Lee Stempniak, gave the Devils a 1-0 lead on the Sabres in the second period. Stempniak scored on a burst down the middle, assists to Cammalleri and Henrique.
Interviewed by MSG’s Deb Placey after the second, Henrique said four remarkable things in just one softly spoken sentence. He provided strong analysis of the goal, then not only refused credit for it, he credited his teammates who had skated the shift before, adding empathy for the Sabres who were on ice when the goal was scored.
