Yesterday, I began a closer look at the concept of scorer bias. I looked at the concept in detail way back in 2010. I concluded then that, yes, it was real; yes, it was really happening at the Rock; and yes, it brings into some doubt about of the stats collected by the NHL and, by extension, used by others. I decided to re-visit the topic to see what the bias may be at the Prudential Center and in the entire NHL. In Part 1, I came to similar conclusions about giveaways, takeaways, and hits. In Part 2, I will focus on the other “super stats” blocked shots and missed shots.
