Devils goaltender Cory Schneider has a Grade 1 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, coach John Hynes said after the Devils' 6-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Prudential Center on Sunday.
Schneider sustained the injury during the third period of a 4-2 loss at the Dallas Stars on Friday while making a pad save against Stars forward Jason Spezza.
Schneider is 26-23-6 with a 2.17 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage this season.
The Devils are six points behind the Detroit Red Wings for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.
