TAMPA, Fla. — Once again, the Devils have missed the playoffs.
Brian Boyle scored the go-ahead goal on a third-period power play and the Lightning beat the Devils 3-1 on Saturday night. The Devils were officially elimated from the playoffs earlier in the day when the Flyers won.
Boyle made it 2-1 on Tampa Bay’s seventh power play and third of the third period on a backhand rebound with 8:28 to play.
Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov also scored for the Lightning, who started play two points behind Atlantic Division-leading Florida. The Panthers hosted Montreal on Saturday night.
