Playoff year for Devils? Two key players must come up big

The Ray Shero-John Hynes era is now entering its second season, and the general manager and coach, respectively, still are trying to re-imagine the Devils without the shadow of Lou Lamoriello lingering.

Shero made one of the biggest moves of the offseason, obtaining top-line winger Taylor Hall in a trade with the Oilers in exchange for young defenseman Adam Larsson. The hope is Hall can improve the worst offense in the league.

But even with that putrid offense, Hynes got his team to be competitive last season, staying in the playoff conversation much later than people thought it would.
