WASHINGTON -- Wednesday was supposed to be the toughest test of the preseason for Nico Hischier. He didn't look fazed in the slightest.
The No. 1 pick of the 2017 NHL Draft, skating against the most NHL-heavy lineup the Devils saw in the preseason, scored his fourth goal in as many games and added a pair of assists to power a four-goal first period for the Devils in a SCORE win over the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena.
Hischier's goal came 2:21 into play, when his wrister from the right circle slipped under the left arm of Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby for a power-play goal.
