At the end of last season, the New Jersey Devils made a major change on the radio side. Sherry Ross was let go after ten seasons bringing Devils games to its fanbase.
This was a hard move for fans to take. Ross was a pioneer in the business. She was the first woman to call a Stanley Cup Finals game back in 1994. Ross became the first female play-by-play analyst when she called the Devils-Senators game back in 2009. It was hard for fans to swallow a move replacing Ross with a whole new voice.
The owners did this by bringing back a familiar voice.
