Tonight, the New Jersey Devils effectively lost to the Florida Panthers 0-1. Florida’s last two goals were empty net goals. A bad pass by Damon Severson into the neutral zone was picked off by Jussi Jokinen, who fired in an empty netter. Less than a minute later, the Devils decided to use their timeout down 0-2 with 28 seconds left and pull the goalie again. It resulted in Vincent Trocheck putting home an empty net goal. Those goals boosted the lead and put an exclamation mark on the game.
