The deadline for qualifying offers to restricted free agents was Monday, and the Devils decided to tender those offers to five players: Kyle Palmieri, Reid Boucher, Jacob Josefson, Sergey Kalinin and Reece Scarlett. Besides Josefson, who I wish would just go away already, none of these are a surprise. Palmieri is in the process of negotiating a long term deal. Boucher proved he can play at the NHL level last season and is due for a breakout year. Kalinin is coming off of his first year in the NHL and will be given a chance to carve out a bottom-6 role this season.
