Sometimes, you’re on the wrong side of history. It happened to the New Jersey Devils when they allowed two goals in the final 90 seconds of game seven back in 2009 to go from leading the Carolina Hurricanes to eliminated in the blink of an eye. It happened again when the Devils weren’t able to oust the Los Angeles Kings in 2012 as they won their first Stanley Cup as an eight seed.
Thursday night, it wasn’t history but it will certainly go viral.
The Devils took the defending Stanley Cup Champions to overtime, trying to sweep the season series.
