New Jersey Devils: Jack Hughes Sets New U-18 Worlds Points Record

The United States defeated Canada for the Bronze medal over the weekend in the U-18 World Championships. They were led by their captain and potential number-one overall pick Jack Hughes.

Hughes broke the all time points total for the U-18 World Championships with 32 points. You might have heard of the guy who’s record he beat, his name is Alexander Ovechkin. Ovechkin turned out to be a pretty good player, so that might be a good sign. Ovechkin set the point total of 31 in 2003, and it stood for 16 years.

The record stood for those 16 years during an era that saw some all time great players come through.
