Devils forward Stefan Matteau has been added to the U.S. Men's National Team that will compete in the 2015 IIHF Men’s World Championship from May 1-17 in Ostrava and Prague, Czech Rep.
Matteau previously represented the United States as a member of the 2014 U.S. National Junior Team in the IIHF World Junior Championship in Malmo, Sweden. He was also a member of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program for two seasons (2010-12).
The Devils' first-round pick in 2012, Matteau played 61 AHL games with Albany this season, collecting 12 goals and 15 assists. In March, he was recalled by New Jersey for his first NHL action since 2013 and registered one goal in seven appearances
Matteau is the third Devil to head to the worlds, joining Tuomo Ruutu (Finland) and Jacob Josefson (Sweden).
