NEWARK — A four-day stretch during which Martin Brodeur officially takes his place among the Devils' all-time greats began Saturday morning with a youth hockey clinic in AmeriHealth Pavilion and kicked into gear when the retired goaltender dropped the ceremonial first puck before the afternoon meeting with the Washington Capitals at Prudential Center.
Brodeur will have a statue unveiled on Monday and his No. 30 retired before Tursday night's game against the Edmonton Oilers.
"It means a lot. It's part of a long weekend, a lot of stuff to do. It's going to end up with my jersey getting retired on Tuesday.
