Beloved New Jersey Devils forward, Patrik “Patty” Elias has announced his retirement, after spending his entire 20-year career in New Jersey.
He will skate with the team one last time, during warm ups before their last home game of the season against the New York Islanders. It will be his last lap in red. A sad way to end a sad season.
Elias retires as a two-time Stanley Cup Champion, and while he didn’t win any individual trophy himself, he was a model for how to play two-way hockey and is the all-time franchise leader in points, with 1,025.
