Lamoriello thanks Devils fans in newspaper ad

Lou Lamoriello wasn't about to begin his new venture as general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs without thanking the fans of the New Jersey Devils.

Lamoriello resigned as president of the Devils on Thursday to become the 16th general manager of the Maple Leafs. Lamoriello worked in New Jersey for 28 years and won the Stanley Cup three times.

Less than 24 hours after being announced as GM of the Maple Leafs, Lamoriello took out a full-page advertisement in the sports sections of The Record and The Star-Ledger on Friday to thank Devils fans.

Dear New Jersey Devils' Fans:

Since I first joined the New Jersey Devils in 1987 your dedication to the organization motivated me to work my hardest – every day, every week, every year.
