In a move that surprised no one, John Hynes was relieved of his duties on Tuesday afternoon as head coach of the New Jersey Devils. The announcement came from Ray Shero, the team's general manager, who praised Hynes before saying it was obviously time for a change behind the bench.
“John played an integral role in the development of this team in establishing a foundation for our future and we are grateful for his commitment, passion and unmatched work ethic,” said Shero.
