For New Jersey Devils head coach John Hynes, there is always the positive side — if he is fired by the club, currently dead last in the NHL's Eastern Conference with zero wins over six games, that wouldn't be the record for fastest firing of an NHL coach. Poor Paul Thompson holds that record — fired by the Chicago Blackhawks after the first game of the 1944-45 season, an 11-5 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
