Scott Smith has hunted down over 30,000 autographs from world famous athletes, fashion models, duck hunters, yachters and even a former President. But he still needs Giancarlo Stanton's signature, so Smith morphs into what he calls "detective" mode earlier this week.
The Florida Marlins and Stanton -- the team's star outfielder -- are set to arrive in New York City Wednesday night for the team's four-game set against the Mets, Smith learns. Before long, he'll have his blue Sharpie and legal briefcase in tow and be on his way to the city. When necessary, Smith checks with airline workers, bus drivers, hotel clerks and many others from his massive network of moles, all of whom help him figure out when pro sports teams are arriving, which hotels they're staying at and even where they'll be dining on the road.
