To coach John Hynes, Tuesday looked like a game the Devils could have expected a few days earlier.
When teams end long road trips and play their first game at home, they sometimes need to overcome a lull or a slow start. Following a six-game road trip, the Devils didn't have that against the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 2-1 win on Saturday.
They did on Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes.
"It was almost like this game was the game you expected against Tampa, where you get off the road, it was at the end of a back-to-back, we didn't have our legs," Hynes said.
