PITTSBURGH -- Brian Boyle and his family weren't shy about supporting and leading the NHL's initiative entering November's Hockey Fights Cancer month.
One year after Boyle's own chronic myeloid leukemia diagnosis and just weeks after he found out his disease went into remission, Boyle's wife, Lauren, became an official ambassador for the NHL's awareness month. Boyle himself has also continued to be a voice and a source of inspiration for others battling their own disease.
So, naturally, when the Devils played in their first game on a Hockey Fights Cancer night on Monday, karma was on Boyle's side.
