NEWARK -- Blake Speers experienced one of the biggest moments of his life when he made the Devils' NHL roster as a 19-year-old out of training camp in October of 2016.
But things turned sour very fast for the Devils prospect.
Speers was reassigned to his junior team, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, after three NHL games. The move wasn't entirely shocking for a player his age, but Speers broke his wrist in his first game back in the OHL.
Surgery sidelined him for six weeks before he finally got to continue working on his game.
