Devils prospect Artur Gavrus registered two assists on Saturday as Belarus opened their preliminary round with a 4-2 win over Slovenia at the 2015 IIHF World Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
Gavrus set up the opening goal from Andrei Stas, then assisted on Andrei Kostitsyn's tally that broke a 1-1 stalemate in the first period. Belarus went ahead 3-1 in the second, and added an empty netter with 19 seconds to go in regulation.
Gavrus was plus-2 in the contest with two shots in 12:57 of ice time.
The centerman has spent the last two seasons with Dynamo Minsk of the KHL where he's collected 13 points (6g-7a) in 66 games.
