Former Devils and Rangers center Scott Gomez announced Thursday on Twitter his NHL career was over after 16 seasons.
“I have decided to stop roaming aimlessly on the ice and call it a career,” the 36-year-old Gomez wrote on Twitter. “I had a fun and fulfilling NHL career.”
Gomez won two Stanley Cups with the Devils (1999-2000, 2002-03) and earned the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year during the 1999-2000 season.
He played seven seasons with the Devils before signing a $51.5 million, seven-year contract with the Rangers before the 2007-08 season.
He lasted two years with the Rangers and was traded to the Canadiens.
