Mike Emrick, the NBC Sports Emmy Award-winning hockey play-by-play broadcaster, became the eighth recipient of the Vin Scully Award for lifetime achievement in sports broadcasting from WFUV Radio in a ceremony Monday at the Costantino Room at Fordham University's School of Law in Manhattan.
The award is named for Scully, the iconic voice for Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers for more than 60 years and a Fordham University alumnus. WFUV, Fordham's 50,000-watt station, was the launching pad to Scully's Hall of Fame broadcasting career.
NBC executive producer Sam Flood and NHL analyst and colleague Pierre McGuire were present to see Emrick receive his award.
