The Devils will open the 2018-19 season far, far away from Newark.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the NHL Board of Governors confirmed the Devils and Edmonton Oilers will play a regular-season game in Sweden to open the 2018-19 season.
The Devils will also end their preseason schedule with a game in Switzerland.

Oilers will play an exhibition games at the end of camp in Germany (Draisaitl) while Devils will play one in Switzerland (Hischier)

Current Devils Marcus Johansson and Jesper Bratt are both natives of Sweden, and Adam Larsson -- who the Devils traded to the Oilers for Taylor Hall in 2016 -- is also Swedish born.
