Devils sign defenseman Eric Gelinas to 2-year, $3.15M deal

The Devils signed restricted free-agent defenseman Eric Gelinas to a two-year, $3.15 million deal on Tuesday, carrying an annual salary-cap hit of $1.575 million. The deal prevents Gelinas from going to salary arbitration.

Gelinas, 24, is one of the Devils best of the franchise’s excellent young defensive corps, playing 61 games with them last season and notching six goals (three on the power play) and 19 points. He was the team’s second-round selection (54th overall) in the 2009 Draft.

Adam Larsson, 22, is the other one of the team’s good young blue liners who went into this summer a restricted free agent, and he remains unsigned with his arbitration date set for July 29.
