Devils Make Three Cuts Before Europe Trip

Just a few days away from finishing the preseason with a trip to Switzerland the New Jersey Devils made more cuts to the training camp roster.

Defenceman, 2018 17th overall draft pick, Ty Smith has been sent back to spend the season with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs. Kevin Rooney and Brett Seney have been assigned to the Binghamton Devils.

These cuts whittle down the roster to 25 players, including four goalies (and assuming new waiver pickup Jean-Sebastien Dea is sent to Binghamton). Rooney and Seney got some significant ice time over the preseason and news of the pair being cut looks like great news for John Quenneville who finds himself amongst the 13 (or 14) forwards heading to Switzerland for the October 1st preseason finale against SC Bern and NHL roster set to be submitted by 5pm on October 2nd.
