Top NHL draft pick Jack Hughes scored his first NHL goal Saturday afternoon — against older brother Quinn and the Vancouver Canucks.
With around 75 members of the Hughes family in Newark for the game, Jack took a cross-ice pass from Taylor Hall before snapping the puck past Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko.
Devils defenseman Sami Vatanen also picked up an assist on the first-period goal that gave New Jersey a one-goal lead.
It took eight games for Jack — the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft — to get on the board, as the baby-faced 18-year-old center now has two points on the season.
