Devils fire John Hynes after crushing start to season

Devils head coach John Hynes will be the first victim of this dismal season in Newark.

Hynes was fired Tuesday after nearly four-plus seasons with New Jersey, the team announced. The ouster comes after back-to-back losses to the Rangers and Sabres, where the Devils were outscored 11-1.

The Devils play the Golden Knights on Tuesday night, with assistant Alain Nasreddine taking over as the interim coach.
