NEWARK — Rookie coach John Hynes is making a positive impression in training camp as he tries to reconstruct the Devils' style of play and their mental approach to the game.
But what are his coaching demands?
We asked.
1. Puck possession
"We want to be able to touch pucks first, which is the first step of possession, whether that's on a forecheck, 50/50 or breakouts. We want to be the team that touches the puck first.
2. Good habits
"We want to have very good habits, such as stick position, line changes, staying onside and not taking bad penalties.
