The Devils’ big weekend continues.
Less than 24 hours after selecting Jack Hughes with the No. 1 pick in the NHL draft, New Jersey acquired star defenseman PK Subban from the Nashville Predators before the second round on Saturday, according to multiple reports.
The Devils are trading a pair of young defensemen — Jeremy Davies and Steven Santini — and a 2019 second-rounder and 2020-second round pick to the Predators.
Subban, 30, put up nine goals and 22 assists in 63 games last season and becomes the highest paid Devil with an average salary cap hit of $9 million over the next three years.
