NEWARK — This was not how John Hynes and the Devils drew it up.
Coaching his first NHL game, Hynes saw the Devils fall in their regular season opener, 3-1, to the Winnipeg Jets Friday night before a crowd of 14,579 at Prudential Center.
HIGHLIGHTS
The Devils' power play clicked on its first try when Jiri Tlusty scored in the second period. The power play actually looked pretty dangerous all night.
Kyle Palmieri came out hitting in his first game for the Devils.
The fourth line with Tuomo Ruutu, Stephen Gionta and Jordin Tootoo provided energy and some of the better scoring chances.
