Devils prospect Mackenzie Blackwood has been named OHL Player of the Week for the playoff period ending April 17.
Blackwood went 3-0-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.31, a .956 save percentage and one shutout to backstop the Barrie Colts to a four-game sweep of the North Bay Battalion in their Eastern Conference semifinal.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario, product turned away 87 shots over three games, including a 29-save shutout in Barrie’s 6-0 series-clinching Game 4 victory. The Colts advanced to take on the Niagara IceDogs in the OHL Eastern Conference final that opens Thursday in Barrie.
