NEWARK — Andy Greene was not drafted. He came to the Devils as a free agent with some noticeable skills, but little hype.
So it is fitting that Greene, who was named the team's captain at the start of this season and has worked his way up to being the Devils' top defenseman, was chosen by the New Jersey chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers as the club's nominee for the 2016 Masterton Trophy.
The Masterton is awarded the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
