Alex Kerfoot is officially out of the Devils' plans.
New Jersey's 2012 fifth-round draft pick became a free agent on Aug. 16 after declining to sign with the Devils, and he inked a two-year entry level contract with the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, according to TSN.
The Rangers and Vancouver Canucks were among the other teams reportedly on Kerfoot's short list of potential destinations.
Kerfoot finished his fourth and final season at Harvard in 2016-17, and per his rights negotiated in the collective bargaining agreement, Kerfoot -- like any other four-year college player -- was eligible to sign with any NHL team as an unrestricted free agent after Aug.
