Steve Bernier took one of the worst possible penalties in one of the worst possible moments to allow LA to utterly dominate the Devils in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
On what should have been a routine touchup iceing play early in the 1st period, Bernier plants Rob Scuderi into the boards from behind in an attempt to beat the icing call. Subsequently Bernier slammed Scuderi's head into the boards, cutting his nose and taking a 5-minute major penalty.
While in the box, the Kings took full advantage of their man-up opportunity and netted 3 goals. These three early goals proved to be far to overwehlming for the Devils who were not able to conjure a comeback.
The Kings won the game won the game 6-1, and hoisted Lord Stanley's Cup infront of their jubilent hometown crowd.
