New Jersey Devils prospect Ben Johnson awaits trial for alleged sexual assault

Ben Johnson, the New Jersey Devils' 90th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, is now facing a trial for alleged sexual assault scheduled to begin on August 15th.

Per Charles Curtis of NJ.com, "According to CTV Windsor, the member of the Windsor Spitfires (OHL) was "accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old female in March of 2013 at Mynt Night Club."'

Johnson has also been accused of another alleged sexual assault involving a 20-year-old woman, yet CTV Windsor is indicating that it hasn't "gone before the court" as of yet.

The New Jersey Devil signed Johnson to an entry-level contract last month. According to the Windsor Star's Jim Parker, it was a three-year, two-way contract between the parties.

When questioned on the charges of sexual assault, Johnson declined comment.

"I just want to focus on hockey," he said, via Curtis' article posted on Thursday. "I’m just happy to be signed and move on. I’m a New Jersey Devil now and I’m happy to be there."
