FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Prior to D.C. United’s move to Audi Field in 2018, the New England Revolution created plenty of memories at the old RFK Stadium, both good and bad. But perhaps their best memory at the venue came in 2006, when they downed their rival, 1-0, in the Eastern Conference Championship.
Most remember that match for Taylor Twellman’s masterful fourth-minute goal, adjusting his body to drive home Pat Noonan’s right-wing cross. It was Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis who was busiest, however, making eight saves to shut out D.C. and win the Revs their second of three straight Eastern Conference titles.
